Terms of Service
These are the rules for using educateoutside.com and the resources on it. By creating an account or buying a membership, you’re agreeing to them.
The short version. Use our lessons with your own classes as much as you like. Don’t resell them, upload them anywhere public, or share your login. You’re the one who decides whether an activity is safe for your children on the day — we can’t do that from here.
Who you’re dealing with
Educate Outside is a sole trader business based in Guernsey, Channel Islands, operating educateoutside.com. Throughout these terms, “we” and “us” means Educate Outside, and “you” means the person or school using the site.
Your account
Free resources don’t need an account at all — help yourself. You only need one to access the premium library.
If you do create an account, give us accurate details, keep your password to yourself, and tell us if you think someone else has got into it.
Keep your membership within your own setting. An Individual membership is for one teacher. A School membership is a single login shared by staff at that one school. Passing either to teachers elsewhere is what gets accounts suspended.
If you’re under 18 — a trainee, a student teacher, or on placement — you’re welcome here, but ask a parent, carer or your school to buy the membership on your behalf.
What a membership gets you
Individual plan
- One named teacher
- The full premium lesson library
- Use with your own classes, print as many copies as your pupils need
- Runs for one year from purchase
School plan
- All teaching staff at one school, on one shared login
- The full premium lesson library
- Plus the Outdoor Learning Scheme of Work
- Plus the Lesson Generator
- Runs for one year from purchase
The Scheme of Work and the Lesson Generator are part of the School plan only. The free resources stay free on either plan, and need no account at all.
We add and occasionally retire resources. We don’t guarantee that any particular resource will still be there throughout your membership, though the library only grows in practice.
What you can and can’t do with the resources
You get a licence to use them, not ownership. We keep the copyright.
Go ahead
- Print and photocopy for your own pupils
- Use them in your lessons, indoors or out
- Send them home with your class for related work
- Put them on your school’s password-protected platform for staff and pupils
- Share School plan access with any teacher at your school
- Adapt them for your setting
Please don’t
- Sell, resell or licence them to anyone
- Upload them anywhere publicly accessible, including resource-sharing sites
- Pass your login or files to teachers at other schools
- Remove our branding or present them as your own work
- Use them in paid training or consultancy without asking us first
If you’d like to do something not on either list, email us. We’re usually happy to say yes.
Safety and your professional judgement
This section matters more than the rest, so please read it.
Our lessons are written by a qualified primary teacher who specialises in outdoor learning. They are ideas and plans — they have not been trialled with children, and they are not a substitute for your own judgement about your own class.
You are responsible for risk assessment. Before running any activity, you must carry out your own risk assessment appropriate to your site, your weather, your equipment and the children in front of you, and follow your school’s policies.
You are responsible for supervision.Including adult-to-child ratios, first aid provision, consent, allergies, tool use and anything else your setting requires.
Outdoor activity carries inherent risk. You know your children, your grounds and your circumstances; we don’t. If an activity doesn’t feel right for your class on the day, don’t run it.
To the fullest extent the law allows, we accept no liability for injury, loss or damage arising from activities based on our resources.
Paying and renewing
Memberships are annual and renew automatically unless you cancel, so your access doesn’t lapse mid-term.
Payments are handled by PayPal or by Paddle, who acts as merchant of record. Their terms apply to the payment itself.
Cancel any time.Cancelling stops the next renewal. You keep access until the end of the period you’ve already paid for.
We may change our prices. Existing members are told before a change affects their renewal, and price rises never apply mid-term.
Refunds are covered separately in our refund policy.
When the site isn’t available
We aim to keep everything running, but we can’t promise the site will never be down. Hosting, maintenance and things outside our control all happen.
If there’s a significant outage, get in touch and we’ll sort out your membership fairly.
Ending things
You can close your account whenever you like by emailing us.
We may suspend or close an account that’s sharing logins, redistributing resources, or otherwise breaking these terms. Where it looks like a misunderstanding we’ll get in touch first.
Liability
Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can’t be limited by law.
Otherwise, and to the extent the law allows, our total liability to you is limited to what you’ve paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
If you’re a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected by any of this.
The legal bits
These terms are governed by the law of Guernsey, and the Guernsey courts have jurisdiction. If you’re a consumer elsewhere, you keep the protections of your own country’s law.
If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still applies.
We may update these terms. We’ll change the date below, and tell account holders by email if a change is significant.
