Children head outside and use leaves, sticks, stones, and chalk to practise counting, shape recognition, number matching, and early measurement — no equipment to source, no classroom required.

These outdoor maths activities are designed for ages 4–6 and cover the full breadth of early number and shape work: ordering and matching numbers, building and identifying 2D shapes, creating repeating patterns, measuring with non-standard units, and adding through hands-on collection and dice games. Each activity takes 5–10 minutes and uses only what's already outside.

In the UK, the activities map directly to EYFS Mathematics and early KS1 objectives across Number and Shape, Space and Measure. In the US, they support Kindergarten and Grade 1 Common Core standards in Counting & Cardinality, Geometry, and Measurement & Data.

The pack includes a teacher's guide, a set of printable activity cards (four per page), and a single-page reference sheet you can slip into a pocket and take outside. Print once, use all year. Works equally well one-to-one or with a class of thirty.
