This engaging team-building math activity gets your class thinking critically about the properties of 2-D shapes. Using differentiated task cards, students will guide their blindfolded teammates to form shapes using only verbal instructions and a rope. The activity fosters collaboration, communication, and geometry skills in a fun, hands-on way.
How to play:
In teams of 4-5, all but one student is blindfolded. Each team receives a length of rope tied in a loop. The sighted player selects a task card and gives verbal instructions to the blindfolded teammates to form the shape with the rope. Once complete, they swap roles and pick another card.
For documentation: Students can take a photo of the completed shape if needed.
Materials needed:
- Differentiated task cards
- Length of rope (one per team)
- Camera (optional)
