You need to be a member to download this file.

Engage your students in hands-on learning with this outdoor column addition activity! Perfect for practicing both addition and measurement skills, this resource allows students to measure items found outdoors and then add the lengths using column addition. The activity offers three levels of challenge:

  • Level 1: Measure to the nearest whole number.
  • Level 2: Measure to the nearest millimeter (tenth).
  • Level 3: Measure three items to the nearest millimeter.

Each student will need a tape measure or ruler and the provided activity sheet to complete this task. For an added challenge, consider using different measuring tools. This resource is an excellent way to combine math skills with outdoor exploration, making learning both fun and practical.
