Measurement, Perimeter, and Data Handling Investigation - Tree Age
You need to be a member to download this file.

The Tree Age Investigation is a perfect outdoor activity for teaching perimeter, measurement, and data handling. Students will use a simple formula to estimate the age of trees in your outdoor space while completing fun challenges or collecting data for graphs.

This resource includes two activities: a challenge-based tree age investigation and a data handling activity, where students measure, calculate, and graph their findings. Ideal for pair work, these activities encourage hands-on learning and critical thinking.

Resources needed:

  • Flexible tape measure
  • Activity sheets
  • Calculator
