In this activity, students will use chalk to draw life-sized representations of whales on the playground. Working in groups, they will receive an image of a whale along with its actual measurements. Differentiation is provided through two levels of challenge:
- Drawing directly using given measurements.
- Determining and applying a scale to create their drawing.
This hands-on, outdoor activity integrates math, science, and creativity, providing students with a tangible understanding of the immense size of whales and enhancing their scaling and measurement skills.
