Food Chains Sorting Activity
You need to be a member to download this file.

In this activity, students will use chalk or the provided cards to complete food chains. It’s an excellent way to introduce the concept of food chains while allowing students to engage in a hands-on, practical activity outside of their seats.

Before students begin this activity, they will need a brief introduction to what food chains are and how they function.

Using Chalk: This method is our preferred approach. Divide the students into pairs and provide each pair with a muddled food chain sheet. They will use the animals on the sheet to create their food chains by drawing pictures and arrows with chalk. The pack includes differentiated food chain sheets, with the chains becoming more complex at each level.

Picture Cards: The pack also contains sets of picture and arrow cards for constructing the food chains. Each set is color-coded. Divide the students into pairs and give each group a set of picture and arrow cards to complete the food chain.
