Senses Outdoor Activity - The Human Body - Smell Hunt - Adjectives

The smell hunt is an excellent activity for getting students to explore the wonderful scents that nature has to offer. It's perfect if you're studying the senses as part of the human body topic or focusing on descriptive writing and adjectives.

Students will find and crush the leaves of plants or trees, then have their partner smell the leaves without seeing them. The partner must then try to find the same leaves based on the scent.

For higher grade levels, you can use small pots for students to collect and store the leaves, as well as have them complete a record sheet before swapping sheets with their partner.

This resource includes optional differentiated activity sheets that can support this activity and provide strong curricular connections.
