World Wildlife Day is a global celebration of the incredible biodiversity on our planet. It’s a chance to help students appreciate and protect the wildlife around them—both big and small! Why not take learning outside with these fun activities from Educate Outside?
1: Nature Video Guide
In this cross-curricular activity, students create a video tour showcasing the nature around your outdoor area. It's an excellent way to combine science and English lessons while exploring local wildlife.
2: Pitfall Insect Tap!
Teach students about mini-beasts by setting up a simple pitfall trap to observe insects in their natural habitat. A great way to introduce food chains and ecosystems!
3: My Nature Walk
Take students on a nature walk to observe and record different species. This activity encourages awareness of local biodiversity and the importance of conservation.

February is a great time to embrace the changing season—whether it’s spotting the first buds, listening for birdsong, or making the most of those crisp, bright days. Leaf Insect Art (Ages 4 - 9)
This Leafy Bugs activity is a fantastic addition to your mini-beasts topic! It goes beyond just using pens – students will explore the wonderful textures and shapes of leaves, transforming them into insect art.

Capacity Hunt (Ages 7 - 12)
In this outdoor capacity math lesson, students will participate in a capacity hunt where they work in pairs to find hidden containers around the outdoor area. After locating the containers, they will estimate the capacity before using water and a measuring jug to determine the actual capacity.
Trip Recount Templates (Ages 4 - 12)
These "Generic Trip Recount" worksheets guide young explorers through the key moments of their trip.
Size Scavenger Hunt
